La Feria Christmas

Merry Christmas to all and a safe New Years. Its seems that all Lois & I have been doing here lately is to eat. I think I have gain about 5 pounds since we came here. We have been to a Christmas Party at the VIP park for all the workers here between the two parks. We got a $25 gift card for you guess it (Wal-Mart). We also have been to a pot luck last night for our park and Saturday we have a party for our work campers. More food is not want I need. Its been busy here during the holidays. We are getting more campers in all the time. I guess we will have more after Christmas coming in.

La Feria TX

Well its been a while since I wrote anything so I better catch you all up on whats been happening. Lois and I have been to the flea market a couple of more times, and of course we have been the to Walley World a few dozen times. I help a older couple get there new washer & dryer install, so they had to take us out to dinner a couple of times. First time we went to a Chinese Restaurant it was good all you can eat. The second was call Lone Star and it was also good place to go. We all had their Baby Back Ribs.
Lois and I are playing Golf about once a week. She playing with some of the women here in the park and I am playing on a league every Thursday. We did not play last week because of thanksgiving.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving here, with all the trimmings. Later the evening we had left overs, what a treat. Then on Tuesday evening we had Turkey Pot Pie for supper. I think we have had enough Turkey for a while.
That is about all for now. Oh we did go and find that couple we met on the way down here. They stay at a place call Texas Trails. It has over 800 sites there, and they have two pools and a huge hot tub that would hold more than thirty people. They also have a big wood shop there and a lot of more things to do. lt comes with a price for all those extra things to do.
We will try to write more often, so until the next time you all be safe and warm.

Well we have been working for the last week here and I think it is really taken shape again. We all have been putting 4 hours for the last week did not have to work the week-end. Kay had a thank you supper for us last nite (Sat) we had hamburgers. She just wanted to say thank you very much for all the hard work we have done so far. Looks like about a week left before we go on a schedule here.
Losi and I plan on going to the flea market today over at Donna TX. Need to get some gloves cause I have worked so hard that my pair are worn through. We may also try and find some friends we met coming down here this year. Well until I have more to tell well write more later.

La Feria TX

Well we left San Antionia TX and headed for La Feria TX, it took about five hours and we were here. We set up just behind the club house on Monday. The ladies that were here had prepared dinner for the group that show up that day. There was about a half a dozen rigs that came in. It was a good meal for us and had a lot of good conversation with people we have not seen in about seven months. On Tuesday Dennis & Barb ask if we wanted to go to the fruit market so we went and of cause the women had to stop at a Wal-Mart before we got back to camp. After we got back Lois decided that she did not like our site so we moved to another one and resit up camp again. This site is right up by the front gate but it is a nice site. We start work camping on the 1st so we got a few days to settle in. It looks like a lot of cleaning up since Dolly came thru and mess things up here. We will try to keep you up to date at least once a week.

Tunica MS

Here we are in Tuncia MS, its like a little Las Vegas. We went to the casino (Harah's). Lois lost but I won a little bit so I guess we broke even. Barb and Dennis also lost but more then we did.
We ate at Paula Dean's restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Its a buffet style and very good but a little pricey.
There is at least 9 casino's here but they are all spread out because they have to be on the river. Usually there is three together. Sam's town has a nice campground in walking distance to casino. Harah's isn't in walking distance. They have a trolley car to take you back and forth. We spent a couple of days here in Tunica MS. We left Tunica MS going west to Monroe LA to a passport RV Park (Pavilion RV Park). Traveled 165 miles today on good back roads. Spent a couple of nights here before we headed for Texas.
We drove about 329 miles from Monroe LA and stopped at I 35 RV Park for the night. Tomorrow we will go to San Antonio for 3 days than to the Valley. Was a good day to travel sunny but cool.
We arrived at Brauning Lake RV Resort (nice campground) on Friday. After we set up Lois & Barb did laundry. The next morning Dennis, Barb & I had breakfast at the club house. Lois stay because she don't eat breakfast very often. After Breakfast we all went into San Antonion for the river walk. We took the boat tour around the river walk. If we had walk it, it would have take all day plus. I was a nice tour. Also Lois, Barb & I went over to see the Alamo. It was there first time but I had seen it about 45 years ago when I was in the Air Force. After the river walk we stopped at a Wal-Mart for grocery and then went for pizza. Sunday we plan on resting before we leave for the valley on Monday.

Tn Good Sams Rally

We arrived at Good Sams Rally at 10:00 am. It was real close parking here at the fair grounds. They had a chili supper and entertainment the first night. The Fabulous Delicardo's was the name of the group that play. The style of doo-wop rock captures the essence of New York street singing style with a decidedly southern twist. They have good harmonies with humor for a great show. After the show they have drawing for prizes. We won a free on night stay in a camp ground in Georgia. The next day Dennis & I went up for coffee. Did not know they was serving breakfast too.
We just had coffee and talk to other Good Samers. There was one couple from Michigan there besides Lois & I. That night they had a cater dinner for us all (chicken). The entertainment for the night was a group that played country and the oldies. They were real good but don't the name there group. They entertain on the General Jackson in Nashville. They did not have a CD out but each one had a CD. This cost us $30.00 for four CD's. We left Sunday morning for Tunica MS.

Paris TN

We arrived at Dennis & Barb friends place this morning at set up camp. Drove the town of Paris for a while and came back to camp. Dennis friend has set up outlets for power in his drive for friends when they come with there R.V. Dennis & Barb went to breakfast and took me along. Lois decided to stay an clean a little. I met some real nice folks here. Charlie & Ailene came in from Nashvile this morning to meet up with us. Dennis & Barb stay for a while longer so I left with Charlie & Ailene. Went back to camp to meet up with Lois. Later we all went out to eat lunch and wound up back at our trailer to play Pegs & Jokers. Charlie & Ailene had to leave to go back to Nashvile so we called it a day, excepted Dennis & Barb they went to play Texas Holdum.
We got up the next morning and Lois & Barb went to do laundry. We just miss around the rest of the day. That was about all we did here in Paris TN. We left the next morning for Jackson TN to the Good Sams Rally.

Day 2-4

On the second day we left Greenwood IN Camping World and head for KY. We stop at Cave City KY at Spring Hills Campground. We went to Mammouth Caves with Bob & Ann. Thought we could get in on the 2pm tour but had to wait till the last tour of the day at 4pm.
It was a lot of fun, thought I would panic going in the Caves but manage it. Then we all went out to eat because it was after 6pm to late to cook. Went back to the campground and we all was tired so we called it a early night.
Left the campground and traveled a few miles down the road (30mi). to another Camping World for the night with Bob and Ann. We went to a big flea market in Bowling Green KY and Lois only spent $8.00. Dennis & Barb is supposed to meet us at 4:30pm but did not get there till 5pm. We all went to Ryans to eat and ended up at our camper to play pegs and jokes - women won 2 games men 0.
Well Bob & Ann left this morning for South Carolina. We meet Dennis & Barb and went to start are trip to Texas. Stay at Whispering Pines Campground for 1 night and than we are going to go to stay at friends of Barb & Dennis for couple of nights.

Well it was our first day out heading back to Texas. Lois & I left about 8:40am heading south. We drove as far as just south of Indy for the first day. We stop in Greenwood IN at a Camping World Store for the night. A couple from Duluth MN which we are going to be working with hooked up with us about 2 hours after we got here. They went out to supper with some friends they knew from here. This Camping World here has electric hook-ups (50 and 30 amps) for you at no cost. Our friends and us are leaving for Bowling Green KY to spend a couple of days before they head out to South Carolina for a family thing before they go to Texas. We will be hooking up with other friends shortly to head toward Texas.

Well Lois is happy we make back to our home base on Saturday about 4:30pm. It was a good trip back here from Texas, except for the outrageous fuel prices. Today I went and met up with some friends at the truck stop for morning coffee and solve the world problems. After that went had the oil changed and fill up with fuel at $3.999. Getting Ready

Well folks here I am again and late as always in updating this blog. Since the last one we have seen a couple of friends from Michigan that we met at a Good Sam Rally. We went out to lunch with them and had a great visit with them. They just got down to the Valley because he had surgery to remove a Kidney.
We learn how to play Pegs & Jokers, so our evenings are spent with four other friends playing Pegs & Jokers. We enjoy the game so much that we bought a set (are you ready Greg & Judye).
On the March 5 I went to Mexico with Bob & Anne, Lois stay at the trailer (she said she did not loose anything in Mexico). Bob had a Dentist appointment there, so Anne show me around Progresso. Not what I thought it would look like, it was dirty and run down, and a lot of people begging for this or that.
On the 10th went to a Hitchhiker Luncheon in McAllen. Give out alot of Haulin Hitchhiker Aps. to different members. This is the last Luncheon until December of this year.
On the 12th Ron & Fran from Canada (friends we met at the park) left for San Antanio. We enjoy our five o'clock somewhere each evening. After Ron & Fran left Lois & I went to Mexico with Barb, Dennis, Bob & Anne. Bob had other appointment with the Dentist. The girls went shopping while the guys had a couple cool ones. America stores should take notice that in Mexico the stores have a lounge in the back where gentleman can wait for their Ladies. Lois bought a bracelet for $1.00 from this little girl, and by the time she put it on there was a few more children trying sell their goods.
On the 14th we left the Valley about 10 am it took us awhile saying good by to all our new friends we made at the park. Joyce across the road from us, gave us a plate of home made cookies for us to enjoy on our trip. Needles to say they where gone before we stop for the day. They where very good and should have gotten more (ha ha).
The first night we stay in La Grange TX. at Sun Catcher RV Park. The park was in new ownership and he was in the process in remolding it. The next day we left about 8:30 am and got a phone call from Dennis & Barb to meet them at Paradise Park at Winfield TX. We play Pegs & Jokers for about three hours with them. The next day we left about 8:30 am, Dennis & Barb also. They left heading for TN. and us for Chanute KS. We stop at a Corp of Engineer Park, it was call Rocky Point and its located in Wagoner OK. It was a beautiful place to visist. Would like to come back some day after the leaves are out. After we sit up I got on the computer to check our e-mail, Bob & Anne had wrote to let us know that Lanny had passed away that day. Lanny was the park manager where we stayed. We had become friends with them and he will be missed. We left about 10 am to finish our trip to Chanute. We arrive around 12:30, set up and went to the factory to check in with them. In the morning we took the trailer over about 7 am and drop it for repairs. Spent the day homeless with Lois and the 2 cats in the pick-up all day with alot of rain. Was glad to get the trailer back so things could get back to normal. We will spend a couple of days here before we head out.

R & R Week

Sorry everyone that I have not kept this up. Lois & I haven't done too much in the last week. We went to a Outlet Mall and a couple Jam session. We also took a trip over to Padre Island with a couple of friends we met from Canada (Ron & Fran), great people. While we where there it was foggy very windy. We stop at a coffee shop to try an wait out the fog. They charged us $1.99 a cup of coffee plus tax. Tax down here is 8.25 on everything. Needless to say we won't go back. Stop at a Turtle rescue place. It is a hospital for injured Turtles. These turtles where hit by boats or attack by sharks. We also went over to a restaurant that everyone says to stop an eat there. It is call Dirty Al's and I see why they call it Dirty Al's because everyone that works there has a T-shirt with X-rated saying on them. The food was excellent, would go back again and again. After spending much of the day there we decided to head back to the camp ground by the way of Brownsville. Not what we expected to see.

Well its Thursday we went with Bill & Judye to Benson State Park in Mission TX. What a beautiful day we had. We walk about 5 miles in this park looking at different types of Birds and animals. The weather was great in the lows 80's and no wind. There are cars allow in this park you either walk or ride the tram. The tram would take you around and drop you off or pick you up thru out the park.
After being there all day stop at a couple of cg to look at them. Went to camping world but did not buy any STUFF. After all this we went to get some Tamales and came back to cg to eat them.

We going to stay here for a week, lots to see here.Got park and visited with Ron & Nancy. The deer come right up to your camper. Not a real big camp ground but a real nice one. Big oak trees here and they are about 1700 years old.

On the way we stopped at the Post Office for some stamps and Lois was offer a Job there (part time). Then drove in the hills to looking for Eagles. Did not see any. Down the Road

Well its New Years Day but does not feel like it. After we left Marshall IL. We stop in West Memphis Arkansas and then Texarkana Arkansas. We are now in Texas at the Escapees Campground in Livingston TX. Staying for about three days before we go over to the center of the State.
Lois did Laundry today but had to go to Wally World first. It seems that I pickup a screw in my tire and had to get it fix first. Its cold here and we looking at about 28 degrees Tonight . I thought I left the cold weather up North.
