Fall/Winter & Spring 2011/2012

We left Ocean Springs around 9:30 a.m. yesterday and drove to Kinder LA. It rain almost all the way there.   We are staying at the Casino for a couple of days. I need a oil change in the truck and Lois did laundry last night. Called Roger & Barb and they will be meeting us for lunch at the casino today. Its is going to be sunny all day and in the 60.
Wednesday Dec 28
Lois & I met up with Roger & Barb at the Casino and had a great lunch with them. We must of talk for over an hour and then went into the casino. Roger went back home but left Barb at the casino for a while. It was good to see them again.
We will be headed out this morning for Texas. I think we will make Victoria TX today and then will be in the valley on Thursday.
Thursday Dec 29th
We made it to Victoria TX at their city camp ground and spent the night. We should be in the Valley around 1 p.m. today. We are here was greeted by friends that have been waiting for us to arrive, that was nice.  It took awhile to get set up because of talking to new campers in the park. When we got here it was 75 with a light breeze and not a cloud in the sky.

We made it to Gulf Shores (Foley AL) and spent a couple of days there. Mike and Sandra met us there and we took a tour around the area to look a R V Parks. We stop and saw a friend at the Escapees Park there. We also stop in Gulf Breeze R V Park and seen Greg & Judy. All six of us went out for lunch at Wendy's. Its always  good to see friends you don't see every day.
Lois & I left Foley yesterday morning around 9:30 a.m. and headed to Ocean Springs MS which is only about 90 miles away from the Gulf Shores area. We are staying in a National Park for the night and will be heading out toward Kinder LA this morning. We went to Hard Rock Casino and had a bit to eat and then spent a couple of hours in the Casino. No did not make a million not even close.

Lois and I hit the road yesterday from Green River RV Park in Campbellsville KY and headed for Texas by the way of Gulf Shores AL. We stop in Cullman AL for the night after a  long day of heavy rain. We drove about 295 miles yesterday. While in route to this camp ground Mike & Sandra call us a said that they was not stopping in Nashville this year and would meet us in Cullman AL at the camp ground. When they arrive and got set up we went out to Denny's to have supper. We will be leaving today around 9 a.m. and should be in Gulf Shores area around 4 p.m. today.

Well we found through e-mail that our last day at Amazon is on Wednesday the 21st of Dec. We will be on the road on Thursday. We are not sure as of yet what route we are traveling to Texas. It will be either highway 20 or 10 and maybe even 40. I guess I better make up my mind soon.

After work and before all of us leave on our separate ways eight of us went out to supper. We had a nice time talking and eating and exchanging business cards so we can keep in touch. Before we left work we got our T-shirt from Amazon (bright yellow). We still don't know when we will be released but are hoping for this week-end.

Sunday Dec 11
Its been almost a week since I wrote anything. We just been working a lot this week. Lois worked a extra 5 hours on Thursday and  I worked a extra 10 hours on Saturday. Today we are going out for breakfast and than we planned on going to Lexington KY so the ladies can do some shopping.  That means that Mike & I will be sitting in the truck a lot while we wait for them. We order our new Kindle Fire the other day and it should be here by Monday. Looks like we might be getting let go by Amazon between the 19 and 21 of Dec. I hope so I am getting tire of this cold here and its time to go to Texas and see our friends, that are already there.
Well we made it back from Lexington from all that shopping. The women enjoyed it so I guess it was alright. Got back about 5:30 P.M.

Monday Dec 5
Got up around 7 a.m. and guess what its doing? Yea its raining again here and we are to get up to a half inch they say. Saturday Lois & I went to Lexington KY so she can get her Meijer fix. We also was at a large complex that had almost any store you would be looking for. This was a all day trip for us cause we did our grocery shopping at Meijers and got back to camp just before dark. Sunday we just stay here at camp for the day so Lois could get some thing done in the 5th wheel. She also fixed a great dinner for us (Pot Roast).

Sunday Nov 27th

On Saturday morning Lois & I went with Mike & Sandra to a little church out in the boon docks for breakfast. It was real good and only cost $5.00 a person for all you can eat. After we got back from breakfast Lois & Sandra went shopping while Mike and I enjoyed are time out time. Last night we went and check out the Christmas lights that they had on display in their City Park. After that we stop in Wal-Mart for the ladies and then went to McDonald's for a ice cream cone.

Monday Nov 28th

It is raining here again and the highs for this week will only be in the lows 50's and the low is going to be around 26 degrees. Hope it don't get any colder here, we only have about 3 to 4 weeks left. I guess we are in a flood watch here in Taylor County. Its rain here three or four days last week and its been two days so far this week. It rain all night last night and is still raining.

Monday Nov 21st

Well its still raining here and it does not look like it going to stop any to soon. Lois sister arrive here yesterday around noon in the rain and set up camp for a couple of days before they head home. It good to see them again and here what they had seen down and around Gulf Shores area. That might be where we will be going next year for the winter (maybe).

Friday Nov 25th

Lois & I went into work on Thursday morning for just a half day. They close Amazon for about 10 hours so everyone could have Thanksgiving with there families. We went to Creek Side Restaurant with a few friends from work. Had a great meal and enjoyed the company of friends. After Thanksgiving dinner we came back to camp and had a camp fire until about 7 p.m. before we went in for the night.

Sunday Nov 20th

Well its raining again here in Campbellsville KY. It seems like it raining every other day here. Not much going on today or yesterday. I did get a call from our friends back home (Chuck & Vickie). They wanted to see if we are still doing ok here and we talk for a while. Also talk to Don & Carol the other day and they said Don had took down a old Walnut tree so they can build a new garage in the back yard in the spring. Other than that we have not been doing to much. Oh Lois sister is coming today for a couple of days before they go home.

Thursday Nov 17th

It is Thursday and it has been raining here for the last two days. Today we are going in to work a little earlier so we can have Thanksgiving dinner at Amazon. We will meet up with Mike & Sandra and have dinner with them. So far we have not been busy here a work. The big push for Amazon will be right after Thanksgiving and up to Christmas.

Friday Nov 18th

We had a good Thanksgiving Dinner from Amazon yesterday. Had all the food you would want to eat and then had to go to work. Now that was hard to do with a full belly.

This morning it was 23 in Campbellsville Ky and we had 28 on our temp. here at camp. We let the water run all night tell hit gets a little warmer here. The fire place heater work all night but did help maintain the temp. in the 5th wheel.

Tuesday Nov 8th

Not much to tell but we did have a cook out over the camp fire last night. We had hamburgers with Mike & Sandra. It was in the 70's yesterday here, what a great day.

Wednesday Nov 9th

Still a nice day out but cloudy and a little windy. We met some friends from work at Creek Side Restaurant and had a great meal. I do think I over did it at the buffet.

Sunday Nov 13th

We have not done much since Wednesday except we did go yesterday with Mike & Sandra to Elizabethtown KY. The ladies wanted to do some shopping and man it took all day. I did find a external hard drive so I can down load all my music on it. We stop at Bob Evans for supper before we headed back to camp. Now that is another story cause we had two (2) GPS and still got lost on the way back to camp.

Sunday Nov 6th

Lois & I went with Mike & Sandra yesterday for a drive around the country side. We went on a drive tour of Tebbs Bend-Green River Bridge & Battlefield. These battles was fought back around July 4, 1863. Confederate General John Hunt Morgan's great raid into Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Col. O.H. Moore, commander of 230 men of the 25th Michigan , waited behind a defensive line and stop the Confederates.

After going on this short tour we went to Betty's Restaurant for lunch. After lunch we went to Columbia KY and the ladies did some shopping. Before you know it, it was getting dark so we headed back to camp.

Tuesday Nov 1st

Lois sister left on Sunday headed for Alabama. They said they might stop back on their way back to Michigan around Thanksgiving time. They e-mail us and was about 100 miles from Gulf Shores Al. Travel safe and we will see you when we see you.

It was raining yesterday when we got up but stop before we went to work. It was a nice evening and after supper we sat around the camp fire for a while. After the Sun goes down it gets a bit cold here. Lois said we have eight (8) weeks left.

Saturday Oct 29th

Well we made it through our first week of work with little pain or soreness. Lois said we have eight (8) more weeks to go of this thing we call work. We also got our first paid check that was direct deposited.

Lois sister came down here to Campbellsville KY the other day to visit us. They are staying a few days before they head for Gulf Shores AL. I think they brought the cold weather with them from Michigan. Its was 29 degrees here this morning. The high is only going to be in the low 50's today. Just eight(8) more weeks and we go to warmer weather.

Just killing time before we have to go to work. While we was sitting around a bird flew up and sat on the ladder looking right at Mittens. What do you think those two cats was thinking of at this time.

In the past week or so we have had a couple of camp fires. We made a fire ring out of some old stone that was laying around and dug out in the middle of it for the pit. We also went to town and bought fire wood. They want to charge you here a $1.00 a piece for wood. It is great to sit around a fire and just relax a little. You can see that I am doing just that.

Monday Oct. 24th

It was a nice week-end here in Campbellsville KY. On Saturday afternoon we took a drive to to the COE Park and watch a video on the Green River Area. It was interesting to watch an learn things about this area. We will be taking a 3 mile driving tour here about Tebbs Bend-Green River Bridge Battlefield that happen on July 4 1863. Maybe next week-end since it is to be a nice week-end again here. I took some pictures at the COE visitors center and will post them in the near future.

Today we will start our 5 hour days which is Monday thru Friday. I think it will be a lot better this way then 3 days of 10 hours a day or 40 hours a week. We are not as young as we once was so you got to pace yourself a little.

Saturday Oct 22nd and its foggy outside this morning and the temp. was around 40 degrees. We completed of training this week and start our shift on Monday. Lois said she is glad we are not doing 3 ten (10) hours days in a row. She thinks she will like the 5 days at 5 hours a day much better. We have had a few more units pull in this week so they can get started on Monday for their training. Over all Amazon said there should be about 600 work campers here this season. Tell I write more you all have a great week-end we will.

Wednesday Oct 19th and we have some changes to our schedule . Lois and I are working from 11:45 a.m. till 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday five (5) hours a day. Lois is picking and I am packing product for single items. Things are not what we was told a couple of weeks ago before we came down here. Will we will just have to deal with it for now and its only for about 10 weeks.

Today it is a little chilly around 48 degrees and rainy. I guess we got a cold spell here for a couple of days. Should be back up by the first of the week around the 60's mark. We got our water lines wrapped for the stay here till we leave in Dec.

We had a nice week end here in Campbellsville KY with weather be in the upper 70's and mid 80's. I took a couple of pictures where we are camp and also some of the Green River Marina. There are house boats on the marina that are worth over $200,000.

Today we will have a get together at the Heartland RV Park. On Tuesday we will have orientation/Safety School. Then we will be working 5 hours shift the rest of the week and next week. Our shift is Wednesday thru Friday 10 hours a day after this first two weeks.

Well we drove around and look over the area a little yesterday. We did find a par 3 golf course for free here, got to be the first one I ever seen. Of course we also had to go to Wal-Mart for Lois's fix's. Today its rainy and a bit chilly so I guess we are not doing much.

Well we made it here to Campbellsvile Ky around noon on Monday. After setting up camp we waited for our friends to come back from Amazon. They start working today (Wednesday) from 6:30 a.m. for about 5 hours for a couple of weeks and then 10 hours a day three days a week. After Mike & Sandra got back we went to eat at a nice restaurant. We drove around after we ate to get a few of the city etc. Today Lois and I will go to Wally World and drive around a bit.

Well we leave in a couple of hours after we shut everything down here at home. Turn and blow out water lines empty hot water tank and turn off gas. Should be on the road around 10 A.M. this morning. First stop will be in Greenwood IN at the camping world lot and then on to Campbellsville KY for a couple of months. Don & Carol and along with Chuck & Vicki have a great winter and try to stay warm.

Little River Casino M&M II

Well we left Goshen IN and the PassPort America Rally on Saturday and got here in Manistee MI at the Little River Casino for the Michigan Mini on Sunday. There are 13 rigs here and we had brats and dogs for supper on Sunday. Today we went to Mac Woods in Mears MI and road the Sand Dunes and than went to the Casino. Here are a couple of pictures of the dunes.

On Wednesday we went to a Old House in Manistee by the name of The Babcock House. This place had a lot of history in it and a lot of old musical stuff. We was there for about two hours listening to this guy talk about it. He also lives in it. Also Lois got lucky and won $300 at the Casino and she was all smiles. Thursday will be a free day to do what ever. Around 2 PM we all got together and play some games and had pictures taken of the group. Most of us went to supper at the Casino after the games and happy hour.

On Friday we got things pick up around the camp site so we could leave, but first went to breakfast at the Casino. They sure have a great breakfast there. Got on the road to head home around 11 AM after all the goodbyes was said. Its always sad to say good by after having a great week with our HitchHiker friends. We made it home safe and sound around 3 PM and unpacked the 5th wheel. Tomorrow we will wash and wax the 5th wheel.

Passport of America Rally 2011

Well we are here at the Passport Rally with Don & Carol and a few of our friends from Michigan. We arrive on Monday morning and set up. Later that day we went out to eat at Ponderosa. Yesterday there was about 4 couples of us that went over to Shipshewana IN for the flea market. Last night we had a good supper at the Rally and Don Tersini. He is a one of the Nation's Premier Comedy Impressionist. Today is actual full day of the Rally. I think they said there was 340 rigs here. You can reach out and touch your neighbor.

Well boy has this been a busy summer. We are getting ready for the Passport America rally in Goshen, Indiana. We will be going with our friends from home Don and Carol this will be the first big rally for them. We will be meeting a group of friends that we have meet at other rallies. This should be a lot of fun. After the Passport America rally we will be heading for Manistee, Mich for a Mini Haulin Hitchhiker get together there will be about twelve campers of us another fun time. We just bought a pontoon boat and have been busy fixing it up and getting ready for some fishing with friends Chuck and Vickie, and some relax time on the lake. Life is good when you can spend time with your friends. It just doesn't seem possible but Oct 1 will be here before you know it. We got our work notice and we start working on Oct 16, 2011 at Amazon.com in Campbellsville, Kentucky. We will work from Oct 16 until Dec 23 and than head further south for a couple of months.

Quality Campground 2011

Morning everyone and how is your week-end going? Lois & I are at Quality Campground with Don & Carol and there Son Ryran & his son Hunter. We got here on Thursday and set up so we could get the jump on the week-end. After we set up we went to the Casino for the Buffet and a little fun on the slots. On Friday we went into town and had hot dogs at Bills Hot Dogs. If you want a great Hot Dog go to Bills. Don & Carol went to pick-up Ryran & Hunter for the week-end. Here are some pictures I took.

Summer 2011

Well here we are again just getting back from a Good Sams Rally up in West Branch MI. This trip was about trying to get through the week with out having any more injury to the body. Lois fell and hurt her back on Monday just before we left and I am in a boot trying go get my Achilles Tendon to heal. All in all we made it rain and all. Got back on Sunday around noon and will be heading out again on Thursday for the fourth.

Well its been a couple of days since we been here mushrooming. It has not been good mushrooming here this week, we only found a few mushrooms. Don & Carol and us went to the flea market on Friday but did not buy anything. On Saturday we hunted for mushrooms and only found one. On Sunday we went and did laundry and then just laid around camp for the day and then went to Club 37 for supper. Monday we hunted for mushrooms and found very few. Yesterday we all went and had breakfast on our way to Little River Casino to do a little gambling. After that we camp back to camp and Don & Carol made up hamburgers for supper. We sat around the camp fire for a while before giving it up for the day.

Well its been a busy time since we got home. I have had a few doctor appointments and Lois has been busy getting the place going again and had to get the 5th wheel wash so we could go up north mushrooming.

We arrive on Tuesday May 3 and set up camp and then went to supper with Don & Carol. Talk to Chuck & Vicki back home and wish they could have came this time with us, but they are still busy with their move from up north. Maybe next year they can come mushrooming with us. Don & Carol and us found a few mushrooms. We are waiting for rain and warm nights. We still have a week yet so it may get warmer. Will write more later.

We arrive home on Tuesday around noon. When we cross over into Michigan we noticed that it was snowing and we almost turn the truck around. It nice to be home again since we have been gone since Oct.. Now we get to clean up the rig and truck and also the yard. Its that time of year again. So I guess it is going to be a while before I post any thing here.

We left Greenwood IN and drove about 85 miles. We had to wait for a while before we left this morning because of the storms coming thru. We stop at Mar Brooke Campground for the night. We started but the rains and storms winds was to much for us. Better safe then sorry.

We been on the road since Friday. Pick up the 5th wheel on Wednesday after noon and spent an extra day in Chanute KS waiting out the rain. We was told that we would have to bring back the 5th wheel so we can get the slide cut open a little bigger. Haven't decided when we will do that yet. We stop in Cuba MO for a couple of days so we could go and see Reggie & Amanda . We thought we could sneak in and surprise them. Amanda has not call us sense we left but she call just after we set up camp here in Cuba MO. Did not like it but I had to tell a little white lie so we could sneak in on them. When we knock on the door you should have seen the look on Amanda face. We did surprise her and Reggie. We spent most of the day with them and around 5 p .m. we headed back to camp.

Looks like the weather is going to be a factor on this last leg of the trip. Will we made it to Greenwood IN at Camping World. We will spend the night here before we head home. It was very windy today driving but we did make it. Looks like we will have storms to deal with tomorrow.

We made it to Chanute KS on Friday afternoon around 2:30 P.M.. Got settle in for a couple of days before we take the 5th wheel over to NUWA for repairs. On Sunday afternoon the camp ground started to fill up fast.

Monday morning around 5 A.M. we started to put the things we need for a few days at a motel in the truck. Man it did not take long before it was full. About 6:45 a.m. we took the 5th wheel over to NUWA for repairs. We left for the motel and then went to breakfast at The Grain Bend and then back to the motel to unload the rest of the stuff and the cats. I guess we will be in the motel till Wednesday or Thursday. Will write more after we get back on the road again.

We left La Feria TX yesterday after a shakie start. I had no turn signals. After we got that fix we left around 9 a m. We drove about 300 miles and stop in La Grange TX for the night. After park the 5th wheel Lois got a surprise. When she open up the slide we had water all over the rug. After finding out that a water jug had a hole it we got thing clean up. We will be heading today for Paris TX to spend the night. I hope today starts out better then yesterday.

Well we made it to just the other side of Paris TX. We are staying in $27.00 a night park. We don't normally paid that much for camping for just the night. We should be in Chanute Ks on Friday afternoon.

Well its getting that time again to hit the road. We have to be in Chanute KS by the 28th of March for repairs on the 5th wheel. Lois is getting things ready in the 5th wheel and I just washed the 5th wheel. Got the hitch back in the truck and some things pack away. The rest will be done on Monday and Tuesday before we leave on Wednesday. There will be a few people leaving on Monday from our camp and more during the week. Today we have to go over to Betty & Jesse motor home and have a happy hour and Sunday we will be going over to another camp ground for a show. It is getting so that we don't have time for ourselves anymore but that is a good thing.

Hi there friends, Lois & I finally went to the Chicken House Opry yesterday with 3 other couples. We had a great time. First it was a long drive to the Chicken House about 40 miles one way. Then I missed my turn and had to double back. After we got there we had lunch two for $5.00. We had a choice of Texas size grilled hamburger or grilled smoked sausage sandwich with baked beans, pickle, chips and Ice Tea. After lunch we went into the theater to watch the show. They've got great musicians, vocalists and some good comedy. Del Puschert was there to play the Sax and did he ever play the Sax. He has perform with Chuck Berry, The Coasters, Elvis and a bunch more. He also had his own Black Group. All in all we had a good time and would go back again.

Its getting close to leaving here in the RGV. A week from Wednesday we will be on the road heading back to Chanute KS for some repairs. After the repairs are complete we will head home weather permitting. These fuel prices are really getting out of hand. It will cost us an extra $28.00 per tank full.

On Friday nite we went to a dance over in San Benito TX at Fun & Sun RV Park. There was about 12 to 14 of us that went there. Here are a few pictures of the group. Don't look at the fat guy.

On Saturday afternoon some friends and us went over to a park to see a 50's & 60's show. It was a pretty good show. They sang a few songs that we all remember from back then. I took a few pictures and hope they turn out ok. The couple that are sitting at the table are a hoot. They are from Terre Haute IN.

Yesterday on Sunday we went to a Concert. Palmview High School presents in Concert Mariachi "Los Lobos". It was in La Joya ISD Performing Arts Center and what a show these kids put on. They were kids from the 7th grade thru 12th grade performing. I tell you its was one of the best concert I have been too in years. These kids sang and dance and also play instruments which

was the Mariachi Band. Here are a few pictures we took.
